    Heading for a Depression?

With the recent bank failures, do you feel that the United States (and much of the world) is heading for another depression?  Or do you think that we'll be able to pull out of the slump?

I think that a depression is on the way, and I don't think the majority of Americans have no idea that it's coming. I watched  a RUN ON A BANK on the news yesterday, but I never saw the story repeated, and the only person I've heard talk about it is you, Katharina. How can the public be so blind? I can't find the reason.

:-)  We mustn't visit the same kinds of places then because it's all a lot of people are talking about lately in my circles.  :-)  It started about the time of that rice scare and hasn't let up yet.

I guess the public is blind because they can't imagine the government letting the same thing happen again.  Everyone (including me most of the time, to be honest) thinks that we've come too far to repeat history.

It doesn't say much for the collective IQ, I guess. People really care about Britney and Paris, but couldn't tell you the first thing about current events or politics. Kind of scary.

I've had some marvelous conversations about the economy, politics, and especially current events with a number of very intelligent and professional people over the last few months.

The trend from what I'm seeing is that it's the fluff topics people are not discussing any longer.  Like a "who's Paris, let's talk about a real subject" mentality.  And it's about time!  :-)

You're right; I've had some good discussions myself'. I  just wish more were around, though. Having to start from  scratch is a real bummer, though.
